OLYMPIC Pop Up Street Performances (Gallery)

Solid Harmony Collective, the senior and alumni singers from the choir, were honoured to be invited to perform across Newham during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer.

Thanks to Newham Council, we will always remember our important role in celebration the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to Sheli for taking such amazing shots on the day!

End Of Term Concert 6th July 2011 @ NewVIc

All 3 choirs of Solid Harmony performed at the end of term informal sharing on Wednesday. It was great to hear Nashaa and Shammi, Michael and John perform on the same bill. Thanks to those who came down to support, and to Steve Lodder and Ian Newton Grant for helping us sound so good!

Jane, Paul, Geneta and the choirs wish everyone a great summer! See you in September!

Newham Mayors Festival of Choirs 2010 – March 2010

For the second year running, Newham held a festival of choirs this month. This is a series of choir sharing events leading up to a finale of 8 choirs. Solid Harmony enjoyed reviving their own creation, ‘Chicken and Rice’ for one of the sharing events and sang Michael Jackson’s ‘Will You Be There’, conducted by Geneta Crooke for the big finale at Newham Town Hall.

Among the other choirs taking part were Young and Gifted, Gouri Choudhury’s Hindi and Bangladeshi singers, Forest Voices and the Urban Development crew.

Amandla Esandla visit from S.E Cape, South Africa – 9th March 2010

This week the amazing Amandla Esandla were resident in London, as part of their partnership with the Sing Up London Community, led by ARK Schools. The group visited us to perform and lead us in a workshop of traditional and modern Xhosa song and dance. Their energy and musicianship was a total inspiration. We have already coined the phrase, “Amandlasize it!”, if ever our performance lacks energy or commitment!

Thank you Amandla Esandla! We hope we get to work with you again!
