We had much to celebrate at this Rehearsal. One of our favourite
Singing Leaders Paul Watson came to remind us how to sing his song
'Celebrate', Veronica and Jessica agreed to conduct 2 pieces for the
Activ8 performance at Stratford Circus on Thursday in Jane's absence
(Veronica's debut as a conductor!) and... it was Jane's Birthday. She
says,
"Many thanks for the beautiful card and all the good wishes and
messages inside. I feel very touched and shall treasure it!" Jane 2nd Dec 08 New layer... |

Today was the last session of four, working with the incredible
Michelle Escoffery to finish our song 'I Am Me'. This is the second
song we agreed to write for Sound Connections and we look forward to
going into the studio to record them both. Watch this space and prepare
to be amazed!
Also...
Solid Harmony were honoured to receive guests from Tanzania this week.
Cassius Maganga brought his Master Drumming students along to the
choir's rehearsal and performed some of their traditional music through
song and drumming. The drums were made by one of the students and
sounded amazing. The choir sang 'Oh Heavenly Father' for them, which is a
piece they learned 2 years ago from Pasuko in Namibia. The group are
over to perform at Newham's World Aids Day Event at Stratford Circus.

Solid Harmony Young People's Community Choir do get to work with some amazing people. Last week saw the culmination of a 4 week project led by
Randolph Mathews. Randolph, skilled vocal percussionist, singer and songwriter, took the choir through a collaborative song-writing process to write their Freedom Song. It's a wonderful and sophisticated piece of work that will definitely make it to Solid Harmony's EP.
Watch this space!
Thank you Randolph. Keep in touch!

Solid
Harmony Choir set the scene at the amazing Youth Music Event at the
Hard Rock cafe. This was a very proud moment, not only as it was the
choir's first performance of this academic year with several new
members, but because they were part of a programme to celebrate the
amazing work that Youth Music do.
Helen Price said, "They certainly got
the event off to a fantastic start and they really sang their hearts
out. The band was fabulous as well of course"
Thank you Youth Music
for all your support and for the opportunity to take part. |

STOP PRESS! 2 amazing things happened this week for Solid Harmony Choir:
1.
As a celebration for their amazing performance at St. Edmund's Church on
26th July, Solid Harmony went to see our very own Itoya Enahoro
Perform as Femi in 'The Fiddler'
at the Unicorn Theatre, London Bridge. The whole production was
compelling, inspiring, challenging, and emotionally both disturbing and
uplifting all at once! Itoya's performance suspended disbelieve and
made us all proud. Well done everyone performing.
2.
Our associate choir and friends, Revelation Gospel choir got through to
the FINAL 4 of the Last Choir Standing on BBC 1 this weekend! We are SO
PROUD, not least because our very own webmaster Chrystal Lecointe and
recent chaperone on the choir residency in Scotland is in Revelation
Choir. We know you are a truly winning choir Revelation, no matter what
now happens in the last few rounds. Congratulations on your achievement
in getting SO FAR in this National competition. EVERYONE, PLEASE DONT
FORGET TO VOTE NEXT SATURDAY! |
