FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH!
Solid
Harmony enjoyed the opportunity to take the stage at Stratford Circus
this evening as part of the NewVIc Music night. It was a fantastic
evening, with members of our band also playing in the amazing Nashaa
Indian Music Ensemble too. Our very own choir assistant, Naomi Scarlett
was in no less than 5 performances and ended the whole show with a solo
performance of her own song. Solid Harmony rocks! (... and not just at
the Hard Rock Cafe!) |

Sorry that we have been quiet over here at SH HQ.
Lots have happened since we last updated you...
In mid-December, Naomi, Botan and Veronica performed in a short film for Youth Music's Christmas Season - video will be uploaded shortly.
In January, the choir hit the ground running with their preparations for the 1st-ever Mayor's Festival of Choirs. Solid Harmony made it to the last stage of the festival and on Friday the 6th February saw the choir get presented with the Mayor's Award for Outstanding Performance with focus on range and individuality in presentation. Again, congratulations to the choir - it was a really enjoyable and fun event for all involved.
Also Youth Music worked with the choir again in producing a film for their website about the wonderful organisations they are involved in - video will be uploaded shortly.
In February, senior members of the choir performed at the launch of a new swimming fitness programme at Atherton Leisure Centre.
Now the choir are working on a whole host of repertoire in preparation for ONE VOICE on the 15th June at the Barbican! (You better be there!)
Upcoming gigs:
- 1st April - NewVIc's Music Concert, Stratford Circus
- 15th June - ONE VOICE, The Barbican.

Our very own Bukky, Stefan and Chioma performed at the Royal Opera House in the new Opera, 'The Last Genie'. They worked alongside two Alumni members, Joseph and Hoang as part of a fantastic cast of young performers!

Aaron, Ramina and Chanelle were brilliant and brave and came to sing Vivaldi's Gloria from scratch, accompanied by the baroque Orchestra, Spiritus, learning the whole work in one day - A wonderful achievement!

We've
had such a productive and exciting first term back this academic year.
Amongst the wonder of crafting two fantastic new songs with Michelle
Escoffery and Randolph Mathews, we welcomed several new members
including Arvin, Arlene, Botan, Jacky, Keanna, Shaimaa, Sara, Sarah,
Joanna and Karolina. We lost a few members to University, but look
forward to them continuing to perform with us occasionally as Alumni
members.
So ever onwards into 2009. Thank you to all of you who had supported us during 2008 - May we wish you all health and happiness for the New Year!
